Hurricanes
Scientists at the U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) expect that, at 2C of warming, hurricane wind speeds could increase by up to 10%. NOAA also projects the proportion of hurricanes that reach the most intense levels — Category 4 or 5 — could rise by about 10% this century.
Earthquakes
Activities like mining, nuclear explosions, fracking and groundwater extraction has seen an increase in the number of human-induced earthquakes. As per available data, over 728 quakes in past 149 years might have been induced by human activities.
Floods
Growth in global population exposure to flooding 2022, by scenario. As of 2022, with just 1.5 degrees Celsius of global warming, the global population exposed to flooding incidents will increase by 24 percent. Additional warming of just 0.5 degrees Celsius will increase it by 30 percent.
